About Labrys & Chronos
Business Structure: We are an independent and cooperative publisher focused on our mission of reconciling faith-based ideologies with LGBTQ+ people and community.
What We Publish: Our primary published works are faith-based non-fiction, faith-based fiction, and LGBTQ+ fiction. We also publish speculative fiction on a limited basis.
What “faith-based” Means to Us: we publish works from all spiritual ideologies and faiths, focusing on the individual experience and promoting messages of hope, love, belonging, acceptance, and holding space for truth.
Our Vision for Authors: We believe in representing authors and agents as our primary customers. That means we want the author to feel confident their published work represents the highest potential of their creative vision.
We also want authors to remain authentic to their true selves and how they are presented online and to the public, so we represent our authors professionally and genuinely.
Our Vision for Creatives, Editors, and Contributors: We ensure that all contractors who contribute are compensated fairly and provided with clear expectations. We maintain a broad network of editors, cover artists, formatters, sensitivity readers, and more, to ensure we find the best fit for every author’s work.
Our Core Values:
Transparency – we share sales numbers, overhead costs, and margins regularly with our authors, staff, and agents. We ensure contracts are standard for the industry and have them externally reviewed so there are no surprises or “fast ones”.
Growth – we are dedicated to improving ourselves as individuals, improving our business, and improving the quality and diversity of books available to readers. That’s why we are committed to growth. Growth can sometimes be difficult and requires thoughtful reflection, which we strive for in all we do.
Accountability – we own our mistakes, we own the process, we own the success and failure of all we do as a company.
Respect – finally, we respect our authors and their vision. We respect readers and reviewers and their opinions. We respect our staff. Sometimes this respect means we have to share hard truths, such as negative feedback on creative work that can be challenging to hear. But we are dedicated to our vision and that requires a mutual respect that empowers all.
Who Are We?
What started as a shared passion among a few individuals has now grown into a multi-national publishing organization with diverse experience. We include multiple subcontractors including editors, content creators, bookkeepers, and marketers in our staff.
